VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for May 26 – 30, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in Warren County during the coming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66
*NEW* Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound and westbound – Overnight mobile lane closures for replacement of pavement markers, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights.

Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound and westbound – Shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through June 6.

*UPDATE* Exit 1A, westbound – Ramp to southbound I-81 closed during overnight hours for pavement marking work related to I-81 southbound widening, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights. Follow short detour.

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 4.

*NEW* Mile marker 9 to 8, westbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

INTERSTATE 81
Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight left lane closures for median barrier installation and construction equipment entrances, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of July 3. Daytime shoulder closures for sign work, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 4. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 widening project.

Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through June 6.

PRIMARY ROADS
No lane closures were reported.

SECONDARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 638 (Freezeland Road) – Flag traffic control at I-66 overpasses for bridge inspections, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Route 658 (Rockland Road) – Closed to through traffic between Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) and Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard) for the construction of a bridge over Norfolk Southern Railway. Follow the posted detour. Estimated completion December 2025.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
