Save Samuels PAC and Preserve Warren County PAC Host June 13 Rally to Energize Voters Ahead of Primary

With early voting underway and the June 17 primary election fast approaching, two local political action committees are joining forces to boost turnout and raise awareness about community issues—chief among them is the future of Samuels Public Library.

Save Samuels Library PAC and Preserve Warren County PAC will co-host a family-friendly voter engagement rally on Friday, June 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Warren County Government Center parking lot on Commerce Avenue. The event will feature free pizza and drinks, an ice cream truck, kids’ activities, costumed characters, and speeches from local candidates backed by the PACs.

“The primary is our referendum,” said Samantha Good, president of Save Samuels PAC. “This is our chance to tell our elected officials, ‘This is our county, this is our library.’ We need a strong turnout so our voices are heard.”

Good emphasized that early voting is already open, with two remaining Saturdays—June 7 and June 14—available for in-person voting. The event aims to inform voters about the importance of the Republican primary in the Fork and Happy Creek districts, where the winning candidate may be the only name on the ballot come November due to a lack of Democratic challengers or write-in candidates.

Cheryl Cullers, president of Preserve Warren County PAC and current member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors (speaking in her PAC role), echoed the message of civic engagement.

“I tell people: educate yourself. Don’t vote just because someone handed you a piece of paper. Take the time to learn who the candidates are and what they stand for,” said Cullers. She recounted a story of two first-time voters who visited their booth during early voting. “One young woman said she felt confident after learning more—and she was proud to cast her first vote. That’s the goal.”

The Save Samuels PAC supports Tony Carter and Hugh Henry in the Board of Supervisors races and George Cline and Sarah Jones in the School Board races.  The Preserve Warren PAC is currently supporting Hugh Henry and Sarah Jones. All four candidates are expected to speak at the rally.

Good noted the PACs are focused on more than just the library. “Save Samuels is about education, access to information, and preventing government overreach. We’re concerned about censorship and the long-term impact of these decisions on schools and public services.”

Both groups say the June 13 rally is designed to be educational and accessible, not confrontational. “We’re not just trying to push a name on a ballot,” said Cullers. “We want people to feel informed and confident when they vote.”

Organizers are urging voters of all political affiliations in the Fork and Happy Creek districts to request a Republican ballot—regardless of party registration—since those local races are being decided in the GOP primary. “This is open to every registered voter,” Good said. “If you care about local issues, now’s the time to show up.”

The PACs say this kind of public engagement is vital at a time when turnout often determines policy. “We’ve seen elected officials claim they have a mandate,” said Good, “when turnout was low, and a third of voters wrote in an alternative. It’s time for voters to speak clearly—and in numbers that can’t be ignored.”
