68th Annual Warren County Fair Promises Family Fun, Farm Traditions, and Nonstop Entertainment

The Warren County Fair returns for its 68th year from Monday, July 28 to Saturday, August 2, 2025, bringing with it a full slate of family-friendly events, exciting competitions, agricultural traditions, and, of course, all the fair food you can handle. Held at the Warren County Fairgrounds, this beloved community tradition offers something for everyone—from monster trucks to greased pigs, livestock shows to deep-fried delights.

“This year is going to be packed,” said Kandi Lamb, fair board member, during an interview with the Royal Examiner. “We’ve got events happening every single day, day and night. It really is something for everyone.”

A Tradition of Youth and Agriculture

At the heart of the fair is its strong connection to 4-H and FFA. Youth from across the region will show animals and compete in a variety of contests, gaining valuable life skills in the process. The barn will be full, and possibly overflowing, with young exhibitors and their livestock.

“Kids learn animal care, responsibility, and even financial management,” Lamb said. “The Friday night livestock auction is their big fundraiser, and many of the animals get sold multiple times to support these hardworking kids.”

Highlights by the Day

The fun actually kicks off a little early with the Fairest of the Fair pageant for infants and toddlers on Saturday, July 26, held in the comfort of Laurel Ridge Community College’s air-conditioned venue.

Then, starting Monday, July 28, the fairgrounds come to life:

  • Monday: Kicks off with the Demolition Derby at 7 p.m. and the Miss Warren County Fair Pageant on the main stage.
  • Tuesday: Sensory Day runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a quiet fair experience for those with sensory sensitivities. That evening features line dancing, ATV dirt drags, and the market hog show in the morning.
  • Wednesday: Highlights include the 4-H Goat Show, a county-wide karaoke contest, and a full rodeo event in the motorsports arena.
  • Thursday: Brings the sheep show, motor sports, and the return of midget wrestling on the main stage.
  • Friday: It’s a big night with the 4-H/FFA livestock auction, truck dirt drags, and a performance by the bluegrass group Five of a Kind.
  • Saturday: Closes out with monster trucks, the always-popular greased pig contest, racing pigs, and a high-flying Frisbee dog show.

Fair Favorites and New Additions

A special crowd favorite is the “Wee-Wee-Wee Racing Pigs”, guaranteed to bring laughs and cheers. Another standout is Disc Connected K9s, a group of athletic dogs performing trick catches and impressive aerial stunts.

For families looking for more relaxed fun, the Wonder Building is still home to arts, crafts, photography, baked goods, and produce exhibits. “Some adults enter 20 or 30 things just for fun—and prize money,” Lamb said. “It’s one of those traditions that spans generations.”

Food, Rides, and Fun for All

The fair food menu features longtime favorites, such as funnel cakes, deep-fried Oreos, and fresh-squeezed lemonade, alongside newcomers like barbecue vendors and pizza stands. And of course, the Ruritan Club will be there, serving up local classics and supporting community efforts.

Ride lovers can purchase daily wristbands for $25, with Tuesday’s Family Day wristbands discounted to $20. Admission is $12 for adults, with Tuesday offering a reduced price of $10. Kids under 6 are free daily (under 12 on Tuesday), and kids 7–12 are $5 on all other days.

Weekly passes and event details are available at warrencountyfair.com or by emailing warrencofair.va@gmail.com.

“We’ve added more parking, and while it’s a bit of a walk, it’s free exercise,” Lamb laughed. “It’s absolutely worth it.”

Don’t Miss It

Between the livestock, the live entertainment, the races, the pageants, and the pig-catching, the Warren County Fair offers six full days of memories waiting to be made.

As Lamb put it: “You can spend all day and all night at the fair. There’s literally something for everyone.”
