Emmett R. Duncan (1930 – 2025)
Emmett R. Duncan, 95, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Pastor Marc Roberson officiating.
Emmett was born April 18, 1930, in Luray, Virginia, the son of the late Leonard and Dolly Burner Duncan.
He served 21 years and four months in the military. His service included eight years with the Marine Corps from 1947 to 1955, followed by 13 years in the Air Force from 1955 to 1968. He served five tours overseas, including seven years in Korea, Japan, and Okinawa, as well as two tours in Vietnam. For his service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star. The South Vietnamese awarded him the Honor Medal 2nd Class.
After Military service, he worked for 20 years at the United States Post Office as a postal clerk.
Emmett served as a Scout Leader from 1970 to 2020 for Boy Scout Troop 4. He was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He received the Statuette and Silver Beaver awards.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. 2328, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1860, a life member of the American Legion Giles B. Cook Post 53, and attended Riverton Church for many years.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 31 years, Neda Duncan; one son, Jeff Duncan and wife Becky of Front Royal; four daughters, Denise Williams and husband Kim of Warrenton, Beth Smith and husband Larry of Bentonville, Angie Lawhead of Cocoa, Florida and Margie Bailey and husband Walter of Front Royal; one brother, Charles Duncan and wife Georgia of Stanley; one sister, Joyce Griffith and husband Junior of Front Royal; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Jessica, Josh, Chad, Ryan and Wade; and four great-grandchildren, Skyla, Aubrey, Jackson and Abriella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kayla, brother, Robert, and a sister, Louise.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
