Is It Time to Brag on Front Royal? We Think So.

I recently read an article by Jeff Siegler titled Aestheticenomics on his site Revitalize, or Die, and it got me thinking.

His message was simple yet powerful: modern communities thrive not because they’re cheap or convenient, but because they’re beautiful, joyful, and emotionally fulfilling places to live. When people take pride in where they live, everything else follows — from tourism and business to investment and local trust. It was a reminder that towns like ours don’t need to chase outsiders for validation. The real magic happens when the people who already live here start to brag a little.

And maybe it’s time we did just that.

Front Royal and Warren County have always had natural beauty on our side — the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Shenandoah River, charming streets, and a landscape that changes with every season. But what’s been quietly building over the past few years is something even more meaningful: a sense of momentum. A shift in identity. A hometown that’s starting to turn heads — and more importantly, warm hearts.

We’ve seen more public art pop up around town. Downtown businesses have added color, character, and new experiences. Local schools and teams continue to show heart and talent. And community events — from Friday night football and fall festivals to the upcoming Front Royal Light Fight — are drawing people out to laugh, cheer, and connect.

These things matter. They shape how we feel about where we live. They make people want to take a walk, snap a photo, invite friends over, or just look around and say, “I love this place.”

Time to Brag — Just a Little

When was the last time you bragged about Front Royal? When was the last time you posted a photo of your neighborhood in golden-hour light, or shared a new shop you discovered downtown, or invited friends from out of town to see your favorite overlook?

We don’t need a new billboard to prove our worth. What we need is a community full of voices saying: “This is home, and I love it here.”

In Siegler’s piece, he argues that modern economic success is no longer built on traditional attraction strategies like brochures and incentives. Instead, people choose places the way they choose everything else — with their hearts.

They choose cities based on beauty. They visit downtowns because they feel good. They shop where the experience is welcoming and fun. They move to towns that offer not just square footage, but a sense of connection.

And guess what? We’re already offering that.

Front Royal has a vibrant arts community, historic charm, parks and trails, and locally owned shops and restaurants that you can’t find anywhere else. Our schools are full of talent. Our neighborhoods are filled with caring neighbors. And our weekends are packed with things to do — whether it’s cheering at a high school game, hiking to a scenic overlook, or grabbing a coffee and walking along Main Street.

We’re not perfect — no town is. But we have what matters most: a community full of people who care, and the raw materials to make something incredible.

Let’s stop waiting for someone else to tell Front Royal’s story. Let’s tell it ourselves.

Take the photo. Tag the business. Leave the positive review. Brag about your kid’s school concert or your favorite spot for lunch. Organize a block party. Smile at a stranger. Ask how you can get involved.

These actions don’t just support local. They build local — the kind of emotional connection that helps a town thrive.
