Jo Ann Dawson Weidling (1952 – 2026)

Jo Ann Dawson Weidling, 73, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Jo was born June 30, 1952, in Front Royal, Virginia, the daughter of the late Albert Angus Dawson Sr. and Doris Virginia Pritchett Dawson.

She worked for Aileen and Shenandoah Press for many years and later retired from Weidling Construction, her own business, where she served as owner-operator and bookkeeper.

Jo was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Strasburg Chamber of Commerce.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Albert A. Dawson Jr.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 49 years, Paul E. Weidling; three sons, Chris Weidling (Kristin) of Strasburg, Paul Weidling and Brian Weidling; two daughters, Jessica Weidling (Jacob) of Strasburg and Shana Smoot (Mark) of Front Royal; one brother, Doug Dawson of Front Royal; one sister, Karen Sibert (Ray) of Front Royal; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie Jankauskas (Wyatt), Allison Smoot, Morgan Weidling, Jacob Weidling, Brandon Oliver, Dillon Shipley and Kaylee Marie Brill; and three great-grandchildren, Nora and Jack Jankauskas and Kellan Oliver.

Pallbearers will be Brian Weidling, Jacob Dick, Mark Smoot, Jacob Weidling, Wyatt Jankauskas, Matthew Dawson, and Ray Carter.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 15, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
