Edwin Johnson Henry (1936 – 2026)

Edwin Johnson Henry, 89, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Commonwealth Senior Living.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main Street, Front Royal, with Deacon Lynette McSpadden officiating. The family invites guests to visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Henry was born on November 29, 1936, in Warren County, Virginia, the son of the late Floyd Lee and Mamie Virginia Figgins Henry. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Russell Harvey Henry, and a sister, Vivian Estes.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Shirley Wright Henry; his son, Edwin Henry Jr. (Megan); one sister, Cindy Derflinger of Front Royal; one brother, Archie Henry, of Front Royal; his grandchildren, Edwin Henry III and Eden Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Henry retired from the Laborers Union and then worked an additional 20+ years for Warren County. Mr. Henry spent his entire life in Warren County and would often drive around the county, seeing the sights and going down to the river. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.

Pallbearers will be Roger Wright, Wayne Derflinger, Tim Figgins, Jackie Estes, Allen Madigan, and Bobby Wright.
