Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign
This Labor Day holiday, a time of year when drunk-driving fatalities surge, local law enforcement will be out in full force in support of the 2018 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Front Royal Police want to remind those who choose to partake in drinking to plan ahead for a ride.
Occurring between August 17 and September 3, 2018, law enforcement officers will team up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to participate in high-visibility exercises, pulling over and arresting drunk drivers.
This campaign will reflect an increased effort to arrest those who choose to drive after drinking. Drunk driving isn’t the only risk on the road: Drug-impaired driving is also an increasing problem on our nation’s roads. If drivers are impaired by any substance—alcohol or drugs—they should not get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Front Royal Police Chief Kahle Magalis says that drivers can expect to see an increased police presence on the roads in Front Royal specifically targeting impaired drivers and those who are over the limit. There is also the possibility of checkpoints being set up at various locations within Front Royal.
