Opinion
Warren County members express their support for Walt Mabe for Warren County Board of Supervisors
Dear voters in the Shenandoah District of Warren County,
We, the undersigned, enthusiastically recommend you vote for Walt Mabe for Warren County Board of Supervisors on November 5th.
Our endorsement is based on:
- Tom Sayre’s lack of credibility as an elected official.
- His ineffective performance as a Front Royal Town Councilman from 2006-2014, and Warren County supervisor from 2015-2019 dealing with the horrific EDA scandal.
- Our extremely strong belief that Walt will do a much better job of restoring faith and trust in our local government.
We badly need new blood on the board. The entire old board has failed us.
We disagree with Mr. Sayre when he claims he did everything he could to stop the scandal during his years on the town council and board of supervisors.
In our opinion he did not:
- Support Bebhinn Egger when she raised red flags on the scandal.
- Hold open meetings with constituents to keep them up-to-date on what was happening.
He claims he was suspicious of EDA finances and proposed inviting the Virginia State Police to investigate. He says the motion failed. And then, instead of fighting for the taxpayers, he dropped the whole matter! Later, he told a reporter he was “afraid to pursue it!”
Shenandoah District needs a supervisor with guts. Walt Mabe is a former Marine. He has guts. He also has experience in finding waste, fraud, and abuse in million-dollar budgets — something that Mr. Sayre does not have.
Vote for Walt Mabe on November 5th. He is a new broom that will sweep clean. If you agree with us, share this letter with others in the Shenandoah District and ask them to vote for Walt Mabe.
Sincerely,
Avery, Jennifer
