Beam me up (and in), Scotty …
Support beams for the final two lanes of the South Fork Bridge into Front Royal over – you guessed it, the South Fork of the Shenandoah River – have been placed in recent weeks, months and appear to be zeroing in on the south bank of the river.
These shots were taken Monday, March 13 shortly after 1 p.m.

The really astonishing thing was that as I made my right off Strasburg Road, south onto the bridge directly behind the Town police car escorting the beam across the bridge, other than making the transit at about 10 to 15 mph, it was an incredibly smooth and un-delayed crossing, with the truck pulling into the closed right lane without issue or additional stoppage of traffic.
Of course I was off the bridge before they started hooking the crane to the beam, so I have no idea what happened traffic-wise then …
Apologies to the younger generation for the original Star Trek TV show reference in the headline. – But hey, they’re still making prequels with the original crew as young Star Fleeters, so perhaps the reference was not totally lost, maybe ……
