Charles Edgar Plauger, Jr., 61, a lifelong resident of Fort Valley, VA, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2026.

Charles Edgar Plauger, Jr.

Born on December 16, 1964, Charlie was the son of Gloria and the late Charles Plauger, Sr. Through his 37-year marriage to his beloved wife Cynthia, he became a father to Heidi Rutz (Doug) and Sara Collier, and gained a large family of brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews whom he cherished.

Adored and revered by all children, “Didi” always said “yes” to his treasured grandchildren: James Hullihen (Kathrine), Madeline Hullihen (Logan), Mason Hullihen (Sarah), Johanna Rutz, Willow Rutz, and great-grandchildren Bryson, Brantley, Liam, Oakleigh, Wyler, Eliana, Kabriene, Jaxson, Immanuel and Baby Girl who brought endless pride and happiness to his life.

Charlie was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church, where his faith remained a guiding force. Charlie grew up working in his parents’ store, Plauger’s Country Store, then became the Store Manager at Cooper’s IGA, where he met the love of his life and many friends. Later, he became a talented clocksmith, and he owned and operated Pinnocio’s Clock Repair. An avid outdoorsman, Charlie loved hunting and fishing and treasured the time spent outdoors with his uncles, brothers-in-law, and grandchildren.

Whether in the woods, by the water, or gathered with family, Charlie valued the simple moments and the people he loved most. Charlie will be remembered for his devotion to family and his sense of humor. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and steadfast support to many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 15, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4260 Fort Valley Rd, Fort Valley, VA. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Charles Emerson Walter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mason Hullihen, Jamie Hullihen IV, Justin Vaughan, Jacob Unger, Jerry Cubbage, and Trent Stephens.

Honorary Pallbearers are JR Dawson, Dan Reeger, Logan Keyser, Jim Vaughan, Doug Rutz, and Carl Taylor.
