Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of February

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of February 2025.  More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.


Saturday, February 1

  • 2:30 PM – Press Play. For ages 12-18.  Join us for an afternoon of playing games on Nintendo Switch.  Registration is required.

Monday, February 3

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, February 4

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Clouds in a Bottle. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, February 5 & 6

  • 10:15 AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Friendship. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00 AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Friendship stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Friday, February 7

  • Library is closed for staff development.

Saturday, February 8

  • 2:30 PM – Grow a Snowflake.  For ages 6-11. Come listen to a “chillin” story on snowflakes and then learn how to make your own! Registration is required.

Monday, February 10

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, February 11

  • 10:30 AM – Homeschool Hub. For ages 6-11. Children will work together as they go through the scientific method, gathering data, and drawing conclusions.   The topic this week is Clouds in a Bottle.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, February 12 & 13

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Valentine’s Day. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Valentine’s Day stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Monday, February 17

  • Library is closed for the holiday.

Tuesday, February 18

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Penny Tension. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, February 19 & 20

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on the Alphabet. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Alphabet stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Friday, February 21

  • 3:00 PM – Wee Ones in the Garden.  For ages 3-5, with a parent.  Join the Master Gardeners as they teach about birds in the winter and help you make a birdseed ornament.  Registration is required.
  • 4:00 PM – Elementary Green Thumbs.  For ages 6-11. Join the Master Gardeners as they teach about birds in the winter and help you make a birdseed ornament.  Registration is required.

Saturday, February 22

  • 2:30PM – Cooking Blizzard.  For ages 6-11.  Cook up a storm as you create an edible snowball creature and then experiment with mint! Registration is required.

Monday, February 24

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Saturday, March 1

  • This is the last day of our Winter Reading Program!  Finish that book and come log it to get your prizes!
