Correction regarding Meza-Tewalt exchange
After listening to the clerk’s recording of the February 6 Front Royal Town Council work session, this reporter would like to correct the gist of the exchange between Councilmen Eugene Tewalt and Jacob Meza referenced in the “Council Generation Gap?” story.
Following Tewalt’s suggestion Council look elsewhere than Springsted to conduct a consultant-driven Town Manager’s search, several of his colleagues suggested delaying any discussion about the matter until later, prior to a vote. Tewalt then directed a comment at a lower tone of voice initially unheard by this reporter, complaining that it appeared to him that his opinion and experience “don’t mean anything anymore.”
It was THIS comment that Meza was replying to when he said, “Don’t make blanket statements like that.”
When Tewalt replied “Why not?” Meza and possibly another councilman almost simultaneously said, “It’s rude.”
We regret any confusion caused by this mistake.
