Democrats Redistricting Initiative a Blatant Power Grab

Published

on

Democrats handed to Republicans a virtual curb stomping this past November.  However in typical Democrat fashion, they are misreading the results in a way which will not end well for them.  Ms. Spanberger campaigned on “affordability”.  Yet Democrats are instead using the results to give themselves power that was never given to them by the voters.

Take the constitutional amendment which was voted on in 2020.  In a year which Joe Biden beat Donald Trump by approximately 10%, the redistricting amendment won with over 66.1% of the vote.  Aka both Democrat and Republican voters spoke loud and clear that who represents us in Congress and in the State House should not be determined by politicians, but by a non partisan or bi partisan effort.

And the Congressional Districts drawn by the Commission/Supreme Court show this.  They show a Virginia with 5 Congressional GOP Districts and 6 Democrat districts.

Now let us see how voters in different locales feel about this bi partisan approach.

Let’s take Lexington Va.  A city with a 62-38 D vs R lean.  Lexington went near 3-1 in favor of bi partisan districts (1955-578).

Now let’s go to Winchester City.  A city that is likely 47-53 in favor of Democrats.  Winchester in the 2020 redistricting vote went more than 2-1 in favor of bi partisan redistricting (7627-3547).

Frederick County went nearly 3-1 in favor of bi/non partisan redistricting (32,620-14,220)

Same with Rockingham County, and even Fairfax County went for non partisan redistricting by a 60-40 margin.  In Warren County, the non/bi partisan redistricting effort passed 70-30% (13,924-6,015)

In fact every locale in Virginia supported non or bi partisan redistricting other than Arlington.

This unconstitutional and blatantly illegal power grab by the party of Big Government is being done because once the Democrats show once again who they really are, voters won’t support their bizarre agenda (genital mutilations of children, abortion up to the baby entering the birth canal, higher taxes for everyone, limiting your 2nd Amendment rights) and will vote Republicans back in power.  So the thought of the Democrats is to change districts so much that the GOP won’t be able to take power back for 10 years or more.  And by that time, they’ll have destroyed Virginia so much that it won’t be recognizable.  If the Democrats – who are led by Ms. Spanberger, have their way – you won’t have much of a choice of what type of car you can drive.  We will have brown outs in our electric grid because we won’t have the power supply available once we are forced to drive the cars of Democrat’s choices.

Virginians this is our time to shine.  Let us stop the Democrats stealing our elections and vote against gerrymandering in Virginia this coming April.

Republican Chair
