Donna June Bachtell Bonzagni (1945 – 2025)

Donna June Bachtell Bonzagni, 80, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

A private service for the family will take place at a later date. A visitation will be open to the public on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main St., Front Royal, Virginia 22630.

Born on Friday, April 13, 1945, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Donna is survived by her loving husband, Vincent Francis Bonzagni; her daughter, Allison L. Banzhoff of Hagerstown MD; her son, Neil D. Bachtell of Martinsburg WV; her step-daughter, Gina T. (Bonzagni) Kazlousky; and her grandchildren, Shannen L. (Banzhoff) Carbaugh, Jared K. Banzhoff, Mackenzie D. Bachtell, Kelsea M. Bachtell, and Caelan N. Bachtell.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Edna McKenney Newcomb, and her adoptive father, David Griffin Newcomb.

Donna was raised in Massachusetts and Maine before traveling around the world with her former husband, Lester Bachtell, a career military man, including many years in Washington County. Settling in Virginia in 1987 with her current spouse, Donna began a new career as a graphic designer in 1991. Before that, she was an office and division manager for a computer firm.

Donna was a life member of both “American Mensa” and “Clan Mackenzie in the Americas.” Her interests included music, theatre, reading, needlework, and gardening.
