Doris Mae Carter (1942 – 2024)

Doris Mae Carter, 81, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her home.

A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Shenandoah Memorial Park, 1270 Front Royal Pike. Winchester, Virginia 22602.

Mrs. Carter was born on August 13, 1942, in Brunswick County, Virginia, to the late Robert and Ruth Daniels Powers.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lawson Carter; four brothers, Emory Powers, Lee Powers, Pee Wee Powers, and Donald Powers; and two sisters, Gladys House and Carolyn Grady.

Survivors include her son, Anthony James Carter; three daughters, Terry Carter (Gary), Lisa Carter, and Catherine Priest (Bo); sister, Ann Cliborne; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, all of Front Royal.
