Freida Mae “Punkie” Soaper (1944 – 2026

Freida Mae “Punkie” Soaper, 81, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 4 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Soaper was born on August 8, 1944, in Sugar Grove, Virginia, to the late Walter and Vivian Rich Parks.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Eugene Soaper.

Survivors include her son, Norman Douglas Soaper (Abby) of Linden, Virginia; five daughters, Threasa Thompson (Ronald) of Ashburn, Virginia, Eugenia Baker (Mark) of Linden, Sharon Weiss (Kyle) of Montross, Virginia, Karen Zopp (Todd) of Front Royal and Angela “Angie” Dickerson (Chris) of Linden; two brothers, Carl Parks of Luray, Virginia and William “Dougie” Parks of Tennessee; four sisters, Shelby Harrison of Chantilly, Virginia, Regina Cassell of Amissville, Virginia, Carol Furr of Unison, Virginia and Valerie Brown of Front Royal; eleven grandchildren, John, Jeremy, Molly, Matthew, Thomas, Sara, Lauren, Brandon, Rachel, Chloe and Brett; six great grandchildren, Luke, Carley, Hunter, MacKenzie, Bryson and Josie and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
