A 32-year-old Front Royal man has been charged in the shooting death of his 58-year-old stepfather, inside their Grand Avenue home late Monday night, police say.

According to a Tuesday morning media release from the Front Royal Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at 10:49 p.m. Monday at 208 Grand Ave., where the two men lived with other family members.

Officers arrived to find both men in the home; Ramsey had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

David Glynn Hoyle, Jr. is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the murder of Warren Howard Ramsey.  According to the written statement, “It is currently undetermined if additional charges will be placed against Hoyle, Jr.”

Police say the shooting appears to be an “isolated incident” between Hoyle and Ramsey.

Hoyle is being held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail in Warren County.  He faces charges of 20 years to life if convicted of first degree murder, and a minimum of three years behind bars on the firearm charge.

Hoyle’s bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 at 10 a.m. in Warren County Circuit Court.

The investigation is ongoing and officials ask that anyone with information regarding the case contact Zachary King at 540-636-2208 or by email at zking@frontroyalva.com.
