Front Royal Tree Stewards Grow with New Members and Upcoming Classes

Published

on

The Front Royal Warren County Tree Stewards have had a busy year, with new plantings, fresh faces, and an upcoming class that promises to engage the local community in caring for its trees. This spring, the group collaborated with local organizations, including the ACES, to plant trees at Skyline High School and a nearby CVS, enhancing the green spaces around town.

The summer was equally active. The organization welcomed three new members: Katie Carr, Debby Taylor, and Chris Lewis. The trio earned their membership by completing the “All About Trees Class,” volunteering over 25 hours at community events and work sessions, and receiving their official badges. They join the dedicated group of individuals committed to protecting and nurturing the local forest, pruning, planting, and educating the public on the best practices for tree care.

Upcoming “All About Trees Class”

This year, the Tree Stewards are gearing up for another round of their annual “All About Trees Class.” This training program covers all aspects of tree care, from planting and pruning to pest control and tree identification.

“People in our community are eager to learn how to care for their trees or find out the best species to plant in their yards,” a spokesperson for the Tree Stewards shared. “Some are also looking for ways to give back to the community, and this class is a great opportunity for both.”

The course is designed to be flexible, with both online and hands-on sessions led by professional arborists, landscapers, horticulturalists, and experienced Tree Stewards. Participants will gain practical experience, and those who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.

The class begins on Saturday, September 7th, and costs $30. Information about signing up or learning more is available at treesfrontroyal.org.

26 Years of Community Service

The Front Royal Warren County Tree Stewards, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has served the community since 1997. Starting with just 13 members, the group has grown substantially and continues to make significant contributions to the local environment. Their work helps Front Royal meet the standards necessary to be part of the Tree City USA program, a recognition the town has held for 26 consecutive years.

The Tree Stewards are dedicated to educating the residents of Warren County and nearby areas, offering various programs and events throughout the year. In addition to the “All About Trees Class,” the group will have a booth at the upcoming Festival of Leaves in October, where they will share information and answer questions about tree care.

Whether you want to learn more about trees, volunteer your time, or want to say hello, the Front Royal Warren County Tree Stewards welcome you to get involved. They encourage community members to join their classes, visit them at their events, or stop by when they see them working around town.
