WASHINGTON – Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) announced on Friday (February 1) the opening of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award application. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor.

“This program recognizes small businesses, non-profit organizations, and large companies for their leadership in recruiting, employing, and retaining America’s veterans,” a release from the DoL stated.

“I encourage all Sixth Congressional District businesses to participate in this program,” Cline said. “Veterans bring a unique skill set and leadership to the workplace. Their life experience and military training would be a benefit to any small business. Participating in the HIRE Vets program shows veterans that business owners value them and their unique talents. The Medallion Award program sends that message to the entire community. I encourage all small business owners to sign up for this important program and hire some of the Sixth District’s many talented and hardworking veterans.”

“With their proven leadership, determination, and dedication, America’s veterans strengthen our nation’s workforce,” U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta said. “The HIRE Vets Medallion Program recognizes job creators who understand the value a veteran brings to any job or organization, and demonstrates a true commitment to veteran hiring and professional development.”
