Some locations even use biometric technology, such as fingerprint scanning—especially in cities. A 2025 Storage Business report found that 15% of urban storage providers now offer biometric entry.

Make sure you understand who can access your unit and how. Ask whether there are security guards, well-lit areas at night, and how often facilities are inspected.

Most also accept payments through credit and debit cards, mobile apps, and auto-pay systems. If you value convenience, look for a provider that lets you manage your account entirely online.

In 2025, renting a storage unit means more choices than ever. From simple spaces to high-tech solutions, there’s something for every need and budget. The key is choosing carefully—balancing cost, security, and features—to make sure you’re not only protecting your belongings but also getting the best value.
