Joyce Ann Smith (1939 – 2024)

Joyce Ann Smith, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Crown Care Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. There, she served as the Resident Representative President for three years and was a vocal advocate for the facility’s occupants with the Governing Board.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia, with Pastor Gary Utz officiating.  Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 13, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late J.W. Shawhan and Alta Schryer Shawhan Page.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Augustus Smith, and two sisters, Debbie Shawhan and Patricia Purdue.  She was a part of the Front Royal Community and a Happy Creek Baptist Church member for many years before returning to Missouri.

Survivors include her son, Garrison “Gary” Smith of Liberty, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Amanda Stears of Raytown, Missouri, Matthew Smith of Kansas City, Kansas, and Emily Banning of Independence, Missouri.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
