Joyce Henry Sutherland (1942 – 2026)

Joyce Henry Sutherland, 83, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Saint Ann’s Loving Arms Assisted Living.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Sutherland was born on September 17, 1942, in Front Royal to the late James “Aubrey” and Beulah Carter Henry.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Sutherland; brother, Edward Henry; sister-in-law, Barbara Henry, and two brothers-in-law, Gratton Sealock and Lynn Rudacille.  She retired from BB&T as an Assistant Vice President of Operations and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Front Royal.

Survivors include her two step daughters, Diane S. Bass (Gary) of Colonial Beach, Virginia and Karen Sutherland of Sperryville, Virginia; two sisters, Dorothy Sealock of Linden, Virginia and Janet Rudacille of Front Royal; two grandchildren, Zach Haun of Vienna, Virginia and Lindsey Haun, Sydney, Australia and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Care, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
