LFCC History Professor Curtis Morgan in China.

LFCC History Professor Curtis Morgan will share the emotionally and culturally-rich experiences he and his teenage daughter enjoyed on their recent trip to China in a presentation, “Walls and Bridges:  A Chinese Adoptee’s Homecoming,” at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the McCoy Theatre.

While in China, they visited the orphanage where Elizabeth Xiangbing Morgan spent the first two years of her life. Morgan and his wife, Katie, adopted her in 2005.

On their journey, Morgan and Elizabeth met other adoptees, and explored Chinese culture and her heritage. A highlight was getting to see the famous Terra Cotta Army.

Morgan, who has taught at LFCC for 18 years, spent four years working in the CIA’s now-defunct Foreign Broadcast Information Service, which monitored foreign government-controlled media.

He has also written “The 5 Principles of Civilization: A Student’s Guide to World History, Volume 1” and “The 5 Foundations of the Modern World: A Student’s Guide to World History, Volume 2,” which are designed to accompany History 111 and 112: World Civilizations textbooks.
