LFCC registered nursing program attains accreditation
LFCC’s associate registered nursing program has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The process began two years ago with a candidacy period during which nursing program leaders conducted a self-study report.
ACEN personnel made a site visit to LFCC during the spring semester, and the program was reviewed by a panel, as well as a board of commissioners. The U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation both recognize ACEN as the accrediting body when it comes to nursing programs.
Many graduate nursing programs and some employers require that their students and new hires have graduated from an accredited body, according to LFCC Health Professions Dean Patricia Lawson.
“Having this accreditation will help graduates of LFCC’s RN program to move forward in their careers,” she says.
There are more than 150 registered nursing students between the Middletown and Fauquier campuses.
ACEN is located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, Ga. 30326. ACEN can be contacted by phone: (404) 975-5000 or by email: info@acenursing.org or via the web: http://www.acenursing.org.
