Phyllis Ruth Edwards (1931 – 2025)

Phyllis Ruth Edwards, 94, of Front Royal, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church of God in Front Royal with Pastor Chuck LaMattina officiating. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Edwards was born August 22, 1931, in St. Michaels, Maryland, the daughter of the late James Thomas B. Hutson and Helen Frances Radcliffe Hutson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She worked and retired from Fairfax County Public Systems, and also retired from K-Mart in Front Royal. Mrs. Lewis was a loyal and faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church of God. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord and always held to His unchanging hand.

She was married to the late Richard Lee Edwards.

Surviving are five granddaughters, Crystal Lee Lewis, Brittany Lewis, Dawn Lewis, Brandi Lewis, and Rebecca Smith; six grandsons, Stephen, Randy, Ray Ray, Little Wayne, Markie, and Andy Lewis; two daughters-in-law, Pamela A. Lewis and Crystal M. Lewis; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sons, John F. Lewis, Raymond Lewis, Michael W. Lewis, and Mark A. Lewis; two sisters, Vera Hutson Blann and Laura J. Abbott; and two brothers, Gary E. Hutson and Jimmy Hutson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
