Police say girl found with burn marks in locked bathroom

STAFFORD, Va. — Deputies say a 5-year-old child with apparent burns on her face was found locked in a bathroom with lighters, an open Bible and a phone playing “something religious.”

Stafford County deputies said in a written statement that parents Carmen Robinson, 35, and Norris Robinson, 41, are charged with abuse and neglect of children and failure to secure medical attention for an injured child.

Deputies responding to a hotel room Friday for a welfare check discovered the clothed girl sitting in the bathtub with what appeared to be burn marks on her face.

WJLA-TV reports Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman M.C. Morris Moncure says the objects in the bathroom have led investigators to wonder whether the child was being used in a religious ritual.

It’s not known if the suspects have attorneys.
