Texas Edward Ritter (1981 – 2026)

Texas Edward Ritter, 45 of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away on August 5th, 2026. He was born on May 28th, 1981.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Ethel Ritter, and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Margaret Fitzgerald.

He was a proud graduate of Bridgewater College and also attended the University of Virginia. He had a passion to further his career in the medical field. He worked as a MSN RN at University of Virginia Hospital. He was also a Patient Care Advisor at Greenstone Assisted Living in Waynesboro, Virginia.

Texas was a man who lived life with curiosity, warmth, and a glass of wine never too far from his reach. He loved to travel and watch Golden Girls.

He loved to go camping and sit by the campfire. He had a pet cat “Cody” that he loved dearly. He loved to share 11:11 with his sister and tell her that the angels were near whenever they caught it.

He is survived by his father, Larry “Tex” Ritter of Waynesboro; mother, Alice “Duckie” Leavell of Waynesboro; two sisters, Tammy Painter of Waynesboro and Jennifer Cox and husband James of Waynesboro; three nieces and one nephew; and a special friend, Jacqueline Roper.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, at Augusta Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Ely Guzman.
