VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for July 14 – 18, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may impact traffic in Warren County during the upcoming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66
*NEW* Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound – Overnight single lane closures for maintenance to various bridges, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the night of July 31.

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Friday.

INTERSTATE 81
Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight alternating closures, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday night. Daytime shoulder closures for sign installations, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Friday. Traffic restrictions are related to the I-81 widening project.

PRIMARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) – Flagger traffic control between the Page County line and Route 674 (Limeton Church Road) for paving operations, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nights, July 13 through September 5.

Route 340 (Winchester Road) – Northbound and southbound single-lane closures between Route 637 (Guard Hill Road) and Route 655 (Country Club Road) for painting of the Crooked Run bridge and the I-66 bridge over 340, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday (July 20).

SECONDARY ROADS
*UPDATE* Route 610 (Bucks Mill Road) – Closed to through traffic between Route 55 (Strasburg Road) and Route 626 (Andrews Road) for bridge repairs, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 15.

*NEW* Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Flagger traffic control near Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) intersection for painting I-66 overpass bridge, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16 – 31.

*NEW* Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Flagger traffic control near FR-Route 285 (Gap Road) intersection for painting I-66 overpass bridge, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16 – August 31.

*UPDATE* Route 658 (Rockland Road) – Open to through traffic between Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) and Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard) using new bridge over railway. Lane or shoulder closures as needed through September 2025.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
