VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for July 28 – August 1, 2025

The following is a list of highway work that may impact traffic in Warren County during the upcoming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 66

*NEW* Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Mile marker 0 to 15, eastbound – Overnight single lane closures for maintenance to various bridges, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. through night of July 31.

Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through August 8.

*NEW* Mile marker 4 to 9, eastbound and westbound – Right shoulder closures including along Exit 6 off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.


INTERSTATE 81

Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single lane closures for installation of median barriers and construction entrances, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of August 7. Daytime shoulder closures for sign installations, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through August 8. Left shoulder closures 24/7. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 widening project.

*NEW* Mile marker 300 to 299, southbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.


PRIMARY ROADS

*NEW* Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) – Southbound right shoulder closures near Front Royal northern and southern town limits for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) – Flagger traffic control between Page County line and Route 674 (Limeton Church Road) for paving operations, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nights through September 5.

Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) – Northbound and southbound single-lane closures between Route 637 (Guard Hill Road) and Route 655 (Country Club Road) for painting of Crooked Run bridge and the I-66 bridge over 340, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday (July 27).


SECONDARY ROADS

Route 610 (Bucks Mill Road) – Closed to through traffic between Route 55 (Strasburg Road) and Route 626 (Andrews Road) for bridge repairs. Estimated completion August 15.

*NEW* Route 619 (Rivermont Drive) – Southbound right shoulder closures near Route 618 (Lee Burke Road) intersection for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) – Flagger traffic control near intersections with Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) and FR-285 (Gap Road) for painting of I-66 overpass bridge, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through August 31.

Route 658 (Rockland Road) – Lane or shoulder closures as needed between Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) and Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard) during final stages of bridge and roadway work. Estimated completion September 2025.

Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
