Virginia State Police Report More Than $580,000 in Drug Seizures During Weeklong Operations

Virginia State Police reported seizing more than $580,000 worth of illegal drugs and recovering a firearm during crime suppression operations conducted across the Commonwealth from Sept. 2 through Sept. 8.

The enforcement activity involved Virginia State Police personnel working with state police task forces, federal task forces, and local and federal law enforcement partners, according to the agency’s weekly report.

State Police said the estimated revenue denied through the drug seizures totaled $580,342.

Among the drugs recovered during the reporting period were 40.8 pounds of marijuana, 10 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.5 pounds of cocaine.

Troopers and participating task forces also reported recovering 28 grams of fentanyl, 4 grams of heroin and 4 grams of crack cocaine.

The figures reflect seizure highlights from investigations and enforcement activity across Virginia. State Police did not provide locations, arrest totals, or details about individual cases in the weekly report.

One firearm, valued at approximately $500, was also recovered as part of criminal drug investigations during the seven-day period.

The agency said the reported drug totals include seizures made directly by Virginia State Police, State Police task forces and federal task forces, along with cases in which State Police assisted other agencies.

The largest seizure by weight listed in the report was marijuana at 40.8 pounds, followed by methamphetamine at 10 pounds and cocaine at 2.5 pounds.

While fentanyl accounted for a smaller amount by weight at 28 grams, the synthetic opioid continues to be a focus of narcotics enforcement efforts. The report did not provide information about whether the fentanyl was recovered in a single investigation or across multiple cases.

Likewise, State Police did not say how many investigations contributed to the week’s total or whether any cases remain ongoing.

The agency described the figures as part of continuing crime suppression efforts aimed at disrupting illegal drug activity and other criminal operations throughout Virginia.

State Police said the work is carried out in cooperation with local, state and federal agencies.

The weekly reporting format provides a statewide snapshot of selected enforcement results rather than a complete accounting of each investigation. The Sept. 2-8 report included drug seizures and the firearm recovery but did not identify suspects or disclose whether criminal charges had been filed in connection with each seizure.

For the week, the reported seizure highlights were 2.5 pounds of cocaine, 4 grams of crack cocaine, 40.8 pounds of marijuana, 10 pounds of methamphetamine, 28 grams of fentanyl and 4 grams of heroin.

The agency placed the estimated value of the recovered firearm at $500, and the total estimated denied drug revenue at $580,342.

Virginia State Police said similar reports are issued weekly as crime suppression and narcotics investigations continue around the Commonwealth.
