Virginia Works Plans October Job and Resource Fairs in Front Royal, Winchester

Job seekers looking for their next opportunity and employers seeking workers will have two chances to connect in October at Virginia Works Job and Resource Fairs in Front Royal and Winchester.

The first event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Samuels Library, 330 Criser Road in Front Royal. Virginia Works and the Warren County Library System sponsor the event.

A second Job and Resource Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Handley Library, 100 W. Piccadilly St. in Winchester.

The events are part of Virginia Works’ efforts to connect residents with career opportunities while helping employers find workers with the skills they need.

Virginia Works serves as the Commonwealth’s workforce development hub, bringing together employment services, career resources and workforce partners for job seekers and businesses.

According to the agency, Virginia Works connects more than 125,000 Virginians with career opportunities each year.

Job seekers can use the Virginia Workforce Connection to explore more than 150,000 job openings statewide. Virginia Works also offers Registered Apprenticeship programs, virtual hiring events, and personalized career guidance.

Its monthly Career Connections Newsletter reaches more than 150,000 job seekers and workers with information about employment opportunities and Virginia industries seeking workers.

Services are available for people at different points in their working lives, including those searching for a job, considering a career change, entering the workforce as students, or transitioning from military service.

Virginia Works also serves employers.

Businesses can access labor market information, recruitment assistance, and strategies for developing a pipeline of qualified workers.

The agency also helps employers navigate programs such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit. According to Virginia Works, the tax credit program distributed more than $130 million last year.

The October job fairs offer another way to bring employers and prospective employees together locally.

The Front Royal Job and Resource Fair will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at Samuels Library.

The Winchester event will be held during the same hours on Oct. 15 at Handley Library.
