Warren County Tax Deadline Approaching: What Property Owners Need to Know

Published

on

Warren County taxpayers are reminded that real estate and personal property taxes—as well as sanitary district fees—for the first half of 2025 are due by June 5. However, in a helpful grace period, the County will not assess late penalties until after June 23, 2025.

According to the Warren County Treasurer’s Office, all mailed payments must be postmarked no later than June 23 to avoid penalties. A late payment penalty will be added on June 24, and interest will begin accruing immediately. County officials stress that not receiving a tax bill does not exempt taxpayers from payment or from late penalties and interest.

“If you don’t receive your bill, it’s very important to contact our office promptly,” the Treasurer’s Office stated in a public notice. “We want to ensure everyone has the time and information needed to pay on time and avoid unnecessary fees.”

Payment Options Available

The County offers several options for paying tax bills:

  • Online: Visit www.warrencountyva.gov to view and pay bills electronically.
  • In-person: The Treasurer’s Office and its drive-thru window are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • After hours: A secure drop box is available outside the building.

Taxpayers choosing to pay with credit or debit cards will incur a 2.5% convenience fee, while E-check payments carry no extra charge.

Penalties for Late Payments

Payments received after June 23 will be subject to:

  • A 10% late penalty (minimum of $10)
  • Interest at 10% per year, calculated monthly

Escrow Accounts

Property owners with mortgage escrow accounts are encouraged to confirm with their lenders that tax payments will be handled appropriately. The County will still send a bill for your records, but taxpayers should not assume the payment is being made without checking.

If you have questions or need assistance with your account, contact the Warren County Treasurer’s Office directly at their main number or via the County website.
