11,800 of County’s Registered Voters (37%) Cast Early Ballots This Year

Alerted to strong Early Voting numbers as the final early voting date of Saturday, November 2nd approached — including long lines running the inside corridor from the Early Voting check-in site to the outside door and beyond — we contacted County Voter Registrar Matthew Reisinger about where the final early voting tally for Warren County ended up. Readers will recall the number had hit 20% of the county’s registered voters when we checked in on October 24, and the total early voters in person and by mail was just over 6,386 (5,386 in person, just over 1,000 by mail).

Here is Voter Registrar Reisinger’s update:

“At the conclusion of early voting on Saturday, November 2nd, a total of 10,305 voters cast a ballot early for the 2024 November Presidential Election. In addition a total of 1,495 by-mail absentee ballots have been pre-processed by our Central Absentee Precinct prior to election day. This brings our pre-election day total to 11,800 ballots cast or roughly 37% of the approximately 32,152 registered voters in Warren County.

“In comparison to the 2020 Presidential Election, a little over 8,200 early in-person ballots were cast prior to that election day,” Reisinger observed.

We note that’s a 3,600 voter increase to four years ago. But if you weren’t one of  those 11,800 early county voters, Reisinger reminded us of election day dynamics at the County’s polling places in all our electoral districts: “Election day polls will be open from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. and if you are in line by 7 p.m. on election night you will be able to cast your ballot. All 11 election day precincts will be open, and as a reminder no voting occurs in our office on election day.”

Electoral Board Chairman Marilyn King added this note about late registration and election day voting: “So far, we have had a great turnout with early voting and mail-in ballots. Tuesday is going to be a beautiful day, highs in the 70s. I hope to see you at the polling places. If you have not registered to vote and you’re eligible, you can register on election day and cast your provisional ballot on Tuesday.”

Still curious about the late early voting rush we asked about the daily totals those last few days. “Friday, November 1st was our busiest day with 830 voters, and Saturday was our second busiest with 778 voters. Earlier in the week we were averaging around 500-plus voters a day,” Voter Registrar Reisinger told us.

As to Election Security, as we reported in our October 24 story on the County Electoral Board meeting as election day approached: “It was noted that an Election Canvass on Wednesday, November 6, the day after the election … was sheduled to verify that all votes cast here, early, mailed, or in-person on election day at a County polling place, were legally cast votes.”

From left, County Voter Registrar Matthew Reisinger, Electoral Board Secretary Lee Bowen, and Board Chairman Marilyn King at Oct. 24 meeting as they prepared for what turned out to be an end of Early Voting rush. And with election day upon us tomorrow, Nov. 5, they will be at it again in the coming days.

And on to Election Day 2024 it is.
