Warren County’s One-Stop Resource Center Returns December 4th

The Warren County Department of Social Services is gearing up for its quarterly One-Stop Resource Center event, scheduled for Wednesday, December 4th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Warren County Community Center. This initiative offers residents access to various services and support programs conveniently located under one roof.

The event will feature 36 participating organizations, including several new ones like Cars Changing Lives and the Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter, alongside familiar names such as Catholic Charities, CCAP, and Celebrate Recovery. Michelle Smeltzer, Community Liaison, and Nicole Johns, Program Coordinator, emphasized the diversity of services offered, ranging from child support resources to career development assistance.

One highlight is the participation of Virginia Career Works, a program that assists job seekers with resumes, employment searches, and skill development. Also joining for the first time is the Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter, a group focused on providing housing resources for individuals in need.

Returning organizations like St. Luke’s Clinic continue to play a vital role, offering medical and dental care for those underinsured. “They’ve been a lifeline for so many people, including those navigating insurance transitions,” Smeltzer noted.

Programs supporting seniors are also a focus, with groups like Seniors First and initiatives like the Angel Tree program allowing community members to adopt seniors in need for the holiday season.

The One-Stop Resource Center is a collaborative effort designed to address a wide range of community needs. Whether you’re seeking volunteer opportunities, assistance with transportation through programs like Cars Changing Lives, or want to learn more about available resources, this event promises something for everyone.

Smeltzer and Johns, recently recognized with a prestigious state award for their contributions to the community, are passionate about ensuring the success of programs like this. “While we’re honored to be recognized, it’s really about the collective effort of so many people in this community,” said Smeltzer.

With winter in full swing and temperatures dropping, the One-Stop Resource Center provides timely support, especially for those facing housing or heating challenges. Programs like the soon-to-open Harts Low Barrier Shelter will also play a crucial role in assisting the community’s most vulnerable.

Mark your calendar for December 4th and join the One-Stop Resource Center at the Warren County Community Center from 1 to 3 p.m. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect with resources, volunteer, or learn more about how these services can help you or someone you know.
