Laurel Ridge to Host Week of the Young Child Art Exhibit

Published

on

Laurel Ridge Community College invites Early Childhood Education teachers to showcase their students’ creativity at the Week of the Young Child Art Exhibit, a celebration of imagination and artistic expression by young learners.

The exhibit will be on display April 3 through May 1, 2026, in the Sekel Art Atrium inside Cornerstone Hall on Laurel Ridge’s Middletown Campus.

The event highlights artwork created by young children and offers students, families, and educators the opportunity to see their work presented in a professional gallery setting.

An opening reception will be held on April 8 from 4 to 6 p.m., giving families, teachers, and early childhood center directors a chance to view the exhibit together and celebrate the students’ creativity. Refreshments for the reception will be sponsored by the Apple Valley Chapter of the Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (VAAEYC).

How to Participate

Teachers who wish to participate are invited to submit two-dimensional artwork in any medium created by their students.

Each entry requires a completed registration form, and submissions must be received by Friday, March 20.

Organizers say the exhibit offers young students a unique opportunity to see their artwork displayed in a gallery environment while encouraging creativity and community involvement.

Teachers needing assistance with artwork pickup or return arrangements can contact the organizers by email.

Those interested in participating can register each student online at laurelridge.edu/artregistration.

For questions or additional information, contact Jennifer Strickler at jstrickler@laurelridge.edu.

The Week of the Young Child Art Exhibit celebrates the creativity of the region’s youngest artists and recognizes the important role early childhood education plays in nurturing imagination and learning.
