Harvey Allen Snapp (1940 – 2026)

Harvey Allen Snapp, 85, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hidden Springs Senior Living in Bentonville, VA.

A funeral service for Harvey will be held at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, VA, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Chaplain Denise Parker of Blue Ridge Hospice will be officiating.  Interment will be private, at Panorama Memorial Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Road, Front Royal, VA.

The family will receive friends at Maddox Funeral Home on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 6-8 p.m.

Born on May 30, 1940, in Winchester, Virginia, he was the son of the late Elmer Jacob Snapp and Edna Louise Guthridge of Strasburg, VA.

Harvey grew up in Strasburg and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1958, ranking among the top students in his class. He attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA, where he made the Honor Roll and the Dean’s List, and graduated at the rank of Sargent. Harvey enrolled and was accepted at the University of Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in August, 1967.

Harvey began his career as a Chemist in 1967 at Monsanto Corporation in Nitro, WV. In 1968, he returned to Strasburg, VA, and began working as Lab Manager for FMC/Avtex Fibers, Inc., in Front Royal, VA, until “the plant” closed in 1989. He subsequently worked for Riverton Corporation in Front Royal, Virginia, and Abex in Winchester, Virginia, until his retirement.

Harvey enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach with his family.  He enjoyed spending the holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cats and dogs. Harvey enjoyed collecting coins, reading, watching sports-the “Washington Redskins” were his team, shopping, eating at restaurants-breakfast was his favorite meal.

Survivors include his three daughters, Tina Snapp of Lewes, Delaware, Samantha  Baugher (Clay) of Bentonville, Virginia, and Melissa Snapp (Chris Beverlin) of Front Royal, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jessica Pfister of Front Royal, Virginia, Abigail Baugher and Samuel Baugher, both of Richmond, Virginia, and Brendan Snapp of Front Royal, Virginia; one great grandson, Isaiah Hall of Front Royal, Virginia; and one great granddaughter, Maive Hall of Front Royal, Virginia. Harvey was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Speicher Snapp.

Pallbearers will be Clay Baugher, Samuel Baugher, Brendan Snapp, and Chris Beverlin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tina Snapp, Samantha Baugher, Melissa Snapp, Jessica Pfister, Abigail Baugher, Isaiah Hall, and Maeve Hall.

Memorial donations may be made to the Warren County Humane Society, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, VA 22630, or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street # 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
