Alford “A.D.” Carter III

Carter proudly served in the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his lifelong dedication to others. Even after his military service, he remained actively supportive of fellow veterans, continuing to give back in meaningful ways.

Those who knew him remember a man deeply rooted in family and community. His life was marked by quiet strength, steady guidance, and a genuine care for those around him.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Alice Carter; his sister, Shirley Chestnut; and his children, Angela Murphy, Andréa Ross, Alford “A.D.” Carter IV and his wife Kimberly, and Daijuan Wade-Jones and her husband Christopher Jones.

He also leaves behind a cherished group of grandchildren: Genae Murphy, Derrick Murphy, Imani Ross, Andrew Ross, Alford Carter V, Wallace Carter, Dennis Gibbs, and Tynesha Frazier.

A celebration of Carter’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, at Abundant Life Church, 700 Aylor Road in Stephens City. A viewing will take place at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. A repass will be held immediately afterward.
