Drones could replace fireworks
The constant threat of wildfires has prompted many areas to explore using lighted drones as an alternative to fireworks, according to USA Today.
When there is little or no wind, groups of these drones can create multi-colored images, messages, and choreographed dances in the sky.
Cities in Colorado, Arizona, and California, as well as Travis Air Force Base, tapped drone companies for their 4th of July celebrations this year.
Drone displays have been taking off during the past few years with appearances in a Super Bowl halftime show, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and even the Walt Disney World Resort.
