National Night Out at the Gazebo, Tuesday night 6-9pm
On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, citizens throughout Front Royal are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “36th Anniversary of National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Front Royal Police Department, will involve over 16,790 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 38.6 million people are expected to participate in National Night Out.
This year’s event is from 6 to 9 p.m. on August 6th at the Gazebo on E. Main Street. Local businesses, organizations, as well as, law enforcement officers from various agencies working the Front Royal/Warren County area will be on hand to greet our citizens. There will be exhibits and demonstrations centered on safety awareness, crime and drug prevention along with activities, entertainment and refreshments for all to enjoy.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
This year, the Front Royal Police Department will be involved in a unique component to the National Night Out campaign, which is called “Project 365”. Project 365 involves local law enforcement working with their community in selecting a designated “problem area” with the goal to work towards correcting that problem within 365 days or until National Night Out 2020. The Front Royal Police Department will be targeting several of their larger apartment complexes located in town to improve problem issues.
National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. This is the police department’s thirteenth year hosting NNO and without this partnership, law enforcement’s battle against crime would be limited. On National Night Out, the Front Royal Police Department invites our citizen partners to show that our community is organized and safety oriented.
