Otis Sterling “Hubby” Darnell Sr., 80, of Linden, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Pastor Glenn Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Leeds Cemetery in Hume, Virginia.
Mr. Darnell was born on September 5, 1945, in Rock Cove, Tennessee, to the late Garland and Laura Hunley Darnell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jane Reed Darnell; five brothers, Sidney Darnell, James Darnell, Willis Darnell, Mitchell Darnell, and J.D. Darnell; and a sister, Mary Darnell.
Survivors include his companion, Dale Darnell; two sons, Otis S. Darnell Jr. and Eastman “Rooster” Darnell; two brothers, Bascom Darnell and Kyle Darnell; two sisters, Amylgene Reed and Zady Mae Reed; caregiver, Barbara Amburgey; and numerous stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Markley, Eastham Darnell Jr., Jonathan Darnell, Woody Pullen, Cody Hunt, Riley Perry, and Bradley Perry.
Honorary pallbearer will be Buddy Mahoney.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maddox Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
