International Cat Day: purr-fect ways to pamper your pet
Each year on August 8, cat lovers across the globe celebrate International Cat Day. To help mark the occasion, here are a few things you can do to ensure your kitty is happy and healthy.
Evaluate their diet
Cats don’t appreciate changes to their diet, but their needs can evolve as they age. Consult your vet to ensure that the food you currently feed them provides adequate nutrition. If not, find out what kind of food you should purchase for them instead. When it comes to treats, get them ones that contain formulas that help maintain their oral heath.
Get new toys and accessories
Staying active is important for kittens and older cats alike, so consider buying them some new toys. Having a selection of things to play with is a great way to stimulate your feline companion and keep them fit. You can also get them a food dispenser to further encourage them to move around. Scratching posts and cat trees also make good purchases.
Visit the groomer
A professional grooming session is more than a great way to spoil your feline. Trimming their claws will prevent their nails from getting too long and then splitting. In addition, they will enjoy getting their fur brushed, washed and dried by a professional groomer. If they need a cut or shear, it’s the perfect time for that too. They’ll feel great afterwards and you’ll get to snap pictures of them with their new do.
International Cat Day isn’t the only time of year you can spoil your kitty. However, some extra treats and TLC on August 8 will almost certainly be appreciated.
