Winchester – Actor and comedian Jim Belushi is headed to Winchester next month, where he will be the grand marshal of the 90th anniversary of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.

Festival President Mike Stanfield made the announcement Tuesday afternoon at the Official Festival Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet at 212 E. Cork Street. He said the festival theme this year is “Bloomtown:  Bringing the WOW for 90 Years”, and officials felt sure that Belushi had the “wow” factor for which they were looking.

According to a festival media release, Belushi recently finished filming a starring role in Woody Allen’s next untitled feature opposite Kate Winslet; and also recently shot Jason Katims’ Showtime pilot, Mating”, starring Taran Killam.  He can also be seen in the Amazon series “Good Girls Revolt,” about the female movement in 1960’s New York City.  The actor will also be seen in the highly anticipated reboot of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” for Showtime.

Jim Belushi’s only public appearance at the 2017 Festival will be his star turn as grand marshal of the Grand Feature Parade, according to Stanfield.  Tickets to festival seating for the Grand Feature Parade are on sale now at the Festival Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet at 212 East Cork Street across the street from the Winchester Moose Lodge.

The Grand Feature Parade gets underway at 1:30 p.m. May 6, in Winchester.  The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival is April 28-May 7. For more information go to the festival website at: https://thebloom.com.
