Joan Elizabeth Whittington, 89, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her home.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Whittington was born on June 11, 1934, in Moorefield, West Virginia, to the late Mack Baer and Pearl Mayhem Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis Whittington; three brothers, Mack Baer Jr., Lewis Baer, and Bobby Brown; two sisters, Diane Hickerson and Vivian Gill; and three grandsons, Michael Whittington, Christopher Whittington, and Matthew Whittington. She was a member of Women of the Moose in Front Royal.
Survivors include her three sons, Rodney Whittington (Kathy), Roger Whittington (Betty), and Melvin Whittington (Debra); two daughters, Kathy Easter (Randy) and Donna Nickens (Pearl); brother, Douglas Baer (Sue); eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Whittington, Melvin Whittington, Brian Murphy, Aries Bolanos, Daniel Reil and Cody Shepherd.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
