Johnnie Otis Kaufman Jr. (1946 – 2026)

Johnnie Otis Kaufman Jr., 79, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday. June 11, 2026, at 2 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mr. Kaufman was born on September 27, 1946, in Front Royal, Virginia, to the late Johnnie Otis Kaufman Sr. and Maedine Rexrode Gardiol.  He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Lon Rexrode, and Lucy and John S. Kaufman.  Mr. Kaufman was an electrician with Avtex and with Columbia Gas.  He was a member of American Legion Post 53, Front Royal, and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include two sons, David W. Kaufman (Monica) and Jonathan F. Kaufman; sister, Mary E. Kibler; two grandchildren, Peyton Kaufman and Brady Kaufman; former wife, Sheila Kaufman; two nieces, Crystal Funk and Rhonda Thompsen; nephew, Jason Kibler, all of Front Royal, and a special aunt, Shelby Bible of Franklin, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Giles B. Cook Post 53, 22 West 8th Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630, or to Front Royal Little League, Little League Ln, Front Royal, VA 22630.
