Kiwanis Club Donates $10,000 to Revitalize LFK Elementary’s Playground
Students at LFK Elementary School will soon have a refreshed and more inclusive playground, thanks to a generous $10,000 donation from the Kiwanis Club and its affiliated foundations. The contribution marks the beginning of a long-overdue revitalization effort, replacing decades-old equipment with safer, modern structures that all children can enjoy.
LFK Elementary Principal Jennifer Cameron expressed her excitement about the donation, noting that some of the playground’s equipment has been in place since the school was built in 1977. “We are looking forward to replacing some very outdated equipment and building a fun place for our students as well as our community,” Cameron said.
Jorge Amselle and Mike Waters, representing the Kiwanis Club, presented the check to Cameron, emphasizing the importance of providing children with a safe and engaging place to play. “We don’t know how much equipment this will cover, but we hope it helps,” said Amselle. “One of the priorities is to make the new equipment fully accessible to all students.”
The effort to update the playground is a community-driven initiative. Other local organizations, including the Rotary Clubs, are also contributing to the project. Cameron noted that the project will be completed in phases, with new equipment expected to be installed this spring.
Kiwanis has a long history of supporting education in Front Royal, previously donating several book machines to local schools. Waters expressed hope that the club could continue to support the playground effort in the future. “Hopefully, we can help again next year,” he said.
Community members eager to support the playground revitalization can stay tuned for opportunities to get involved. As Cameron said, “We definitely could not do this without the support of our community organizations.”
