Maximilian James Donora (1995 – 2026)

Maximilian James “Max” Donora, 31, passed away on September 5^th, 2026

Born on January 3, 1995, in Fairfax, Virginia, Max was the beloved son of Joseph William Donora and Michelle Denise Donora. He grew up with a strong dedication to learning and community, graduating from Osbourn Park High School (Manassas, VA) in the Class of 2013.  He continued his education at George Mason University, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2017 and his Master’s degree in 2018.

After graduating, Max worked for five years at Andersen Tax before answering the call to public service as a Criminal Investigator. He served with distinction as a Special Agent for IRS-Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) in the West Palm Beach, Florida, office, working out of the Miami Field Office.

Max formed meaningful connections with those around him and touched many lives in a positive manner. He was a resourceful friend and colleague who always stepped forward to help, support, and take on new challenges.

On October 22, 2022, Max married the love of his life, Sophie (Gorshenin) Donora, in a meaningful and well-celebrated ceremony on his parents’ farm in Virginia.

Max is survived by his loving wife, Sophie Donora; his parents, Joseph and Michelle Donora; and a large extended family of loved ones, colleagues, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Madeline Devine, and his paternal grandparents, Boniface “Ben” Donora Sr. and Beatrice (Bea) Donora.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 1^st, at Omps Funeral Home Amherst Chapel, immediately followed by a lunch reception in the adjoining hall.

A private burial will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal, Virginia, at a later time.
