Natural Art Garden Center Embarks on a New Journey with New Ownership

Published

After over a decade of growth and community service, the Natural Art Garden Center in Toms Brook, Virginia, is entering a new chapter. Scott Edmondson and Lynne Phillips, the founders and driving forces behind the garden center, have officially passed the torch to new owners Jess and Hennie Steyn. This transition marks an exciting moment for the beloved garden center, located at 27358 Old Valley Pike, which has been a cornerstone of the Shenandoah Valley for more than 16 years.

Scott Edmondson, who founded C & S Landscaping of Virginia, Inc. in 1987, started the garden center in 2008 as an extension of his landscaping business. The goal was to create a space where clients could explore design ideas and select products for their outdoor projects. Over the years, the Natural Art Garden Center has blossomed into a vibrant hub for gardening enthusiasts, known for its high-quality plants, gardening supplies, and expert advice.

Lynne Phillips, who has balanced her work at the garden center with her role as an Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor at Warren County Middle School in Front Royal, has been vital to the center’s success. Together, Scott and Lynne have cultivated a business that offers top-notch products and fosters a deep connection with the local community. Their commitment to quality, sustainability, and customer service has made the garden center a trusted destination for gardeners across the region.

The decision to sell the garden center was not made lightly, but Scott and Lynne are confident that Jess and Hennie Steyn are the right people to carry on the legacy. The Steyns, who share a deep passion for gardening and a strong vision for the future, are dedicated to maintaining the values and traditions that have made the Natural Art Garden Center a cherished local institution.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our customers over the years,” said Scott and Lynne. “We have full confidence that Jess and Hennie Steyn will continue to provide the same level of service and dedication that our beloved customers have come to expect. We look forward to seeing the garden center flourish under their stewardship.”

To ensure a smooth transition, Scott and Lynne will remain involved until the end of the year, offering their support and expertise to the new owners. This continuity will help maintain the high standards that customers have come to expect while allowing Jess and Hennie to settle into their new roles.

As part of the transition, the Natural Art Garden Center will host a “Natural Art Garden Party” on September 14, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event is an opportunity for the community to meet the new owners, celebrate Scott and Lynne’s achievements, and enjoy light refreshments in the beautiful garden surroundings. It’s a moment of celebration for all who have been part of the garden center’s journey.

Looking ahead, Jess and Hennie Steyn are excited about the possibilities. They are committed to preserving the garden center’s excellent reputation while bringing their unique ideas and energy to the business. Their goal is to continue serving the Shenandoah Valley community with the same dedication that has made Natural Art Garden Center a trusted name in gardening.

With the Steyns at the helm, the future looks bright for the Natural Art Garden Center. As they embark on this new journey, the community can expect the same quality, service, and passion that has defined the garden center for the past 16 years—along with some fresh perspectives that will help it grow and thrive for many more years to come.

For over 15 years, Natural Art Garden Center has been a trusted provider of high-quality plants, gardening supplies, and expert advice in the Shenandoah Valley. With a strong focus on sustainable practices and customer satisfaction, the garden center has become a destination for gardening enthusiasts across the region.
