Real Estate Market & Economic Summit 2019
Real Estate Market & Economic Summit with:
- Dr. Lisa Sturtevant – Virginia Realtors, Chief Economist
- Patrick Barker – Frederick County Economic Development Authority Executive Director
- Shawn Hershberger – Winchester Development Services Director
- Doug Parsons – Warren County Economic Development Authority Executive Director
- Hosted by Blue Ridge Association of Realtors
- Proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity and BRAR Scholarship Fund
A few key take aways from Dr. Lisa Sturtevant’s portion of the summit:
- Because mortgage rates are so low, more people are locking in low interest rates instead of buying their next home. They are adding on to existing home.
- Healthcare is highest growing job industry in Virginia.
- We have lost 25-34 year-olds from Virginia. They are moving to places like Austin, Cleveland, and Des Moines because of high quality of living and affordable housing. QUALITY OF LIFE AND HOUSING ARE BIGGEST REASON FOR LEAVING.
- Job growth is the primary demand for housing.
- Prices are going to continue to rise in the months to come.
- Trend of supply will continue to decline.
