Sixth District Perspectives with Congressman Ben Cline – January 31, 2025

on

Last week, history was made as President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, ushering in a renewed focus on putting America First. President Trump wasted no time getting to work, signing executive orders that fulfill his promises to the American people. In Congress, House Republicans took a strong stand for life by passing the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, ensuring critical care for babies who survive attempted abortions. Meanwhile, the Trump Administration has already begun taking decisive action to secure our borders and enforce immigration laws. I’m honored to have received an A+ rating from the SBA List for my pro-life voting record and had a great time engaging with Liberty University students in Washington. As I return home for a district work week, I look forward to meeting with folks across the Sixth District and continuing to fight for our shared values.

Delivering on Promises, Restoring American Strength

President Trump has wasted no time in taking bold action to restore common sense, accountability, and strength to our government. His executive orders are already unleashing American energy, securing our borders, and easing burdens on hardworking families. Among his decisive first actions, he reinstated the “Remain in Mexico” policy, directed federal employees back to the office, and withdrew the U.S. from the World Health Organization to protect our national sovereignty.

In a strong move to uphold biological reality, President Trump signed an executive order ensuring that federal government documentation recognizes only two genders—male and female. He also took swift action to dismantle radical Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within federal agencies, ensuring that merit, fairness, and American values guide our institutions.

Protecting our Nation’s children remains a top priority, and the President made that clear by signing an executive order restricting federal funding for gender transition procedures on minors. This measure safeguards children from irreversible medical procedures and reinforces the role of parents in these critical decisions. Additionally, President Trump took a firm stand against antisemitism, ordering a comprehensive review to identify, punish, and deport individuals engaged in antisemitic activities, including students on visas.

These actions reflect the clear mandate given to President Trump by the American people last November. He is following through on his promises, reversing harmful policies, bolstering our national security, and ensuring that our government serves its citizens—not Washington bureaucrats. House Republicans are committed to working alongside the Administration to cut waste, restore efficiency, and uphold the conservative values that make America great.

Standing Up for the Most Vulnerable

Babies born alive after an attempted abortion deserve the same lifesaving medical care as any other child, and we must ensure they receive the treatment they need. That’s why last week, House Republicans took decisive action by passing H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This critical legislation mandates that healthcare professionals provide the same standard of care to infants who survive an abortion as they would for any other baby at the same gestational age. This is not just a political issue—it’s a moral imperative.

By advancing this bill, House Republicans reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to defending the sanctity of life and protecting our most vulnerable. Sadly, Senate Democrats blocked consideration of this lifesaving measure, putting politics over basic human dignity. I urge the Senate to act swiftly and pass this crucial bill so it can be sent to President Trump’s desk and signed into law. Rest assured, we will always stand for life and fight to ensure that every child is given the chance they deserve.

Restoring Order at the Southern Border

In just one week as Border Czar, Tom Homan has accomplished more to secure our southern border than Kamala Harris did in four years. Under the disastrous policies of the Biden Administration, millions of illegal migrants—including dangerous criminals—poured into our Nation, jeopardizing the safety of American communities. But President Trump wasted no time taking action. Within hours of taking office, he declared a national emergency at the border and deployed active-duty troops to help stop the invasion. His swift and decisive leadership has already led to a 35% decrease in border encounters compared to the final days of the Biden Administration.

Meanwhile, under Homan’s leadership, ICE has ramped up enforcement efforts, arresting over 3,500 illegal migrants since January 23rd. This is exactly the leadership our Nation needs. The Biden Administration knew their open-border policies were making our country less safe, yet they refused to act. Now, President Trump, Tom Homan, and ICE are sending a clear message: America’s borders will be secured, our immigration laws will be enforced, and those who violate them will be sent back where they came from.

Receiving an A+ Rating from SBA Pro Life America

Once again, I am honored to receive an A+ rating from SBA Pro Life America. Every life is precious, and I will always fight to advance policies in Congress that protect those who cannot defend themselves.

Engaging with Liberty University Students in D.C.
Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with students from Liberty University in Washington, D.C. It was a great opportunity to discuss the important issues facing our nation and hear directly from the next generation of leaders. I’m always encouraged by the passion and dedication of young people who are eager to make a difference. Their commitment to our shared values gives me hope for the future of America.
